As a sound designer, Hyeongwoo brings a unique and experimental approach to sound acquisition, exploring electromagnetic soundscapes, synthesis tools, and diverse field recordings across the UK to build evocative sound libraries.
His background as a location sound recordist, production sound mixer, and editor further ensures seamless workflow and technical precision from capture to final mix.
Hyeongwoo's teamwork recently culminated in significant international recognition: his film won both 'Best Short Film' and 'Best Student Film' at the Incheon International Short Film Festival 2026.

1. Blu-ray Player
Technique: Captured the intricate whirrs, clicks, and data processing hums of disc read/write operations using both mono and stereo telephone pickup coil microphones.
Application: The processed version (clip 3) of these recordings served as the foundational sound effect for the light bike in my Tron: Legacy Redesign.
2. Connecting/Disconnecting Wall Chargers (USB-C & Micro-USB)
Observation: Exploration revealed distinct pitches of glitch noise generated by using two different cable types.
Application: The processed recording (clip 3) were used to simulate ambience in a sci-fi digital world environment.
3. Cash Machine (NatWest & Barclays)
Discovery: Provocative glitches and harmonic patterns were discovered during the operational cycles of different bank cash machines.
4. Underwater Recording:
Equipment: Using the Ambient ASF-1 MKII hydrophone for precise aquatic capture.
Application: These recordings became foundational sound assets for part 2 of the Audio Journey project.
5. Everyday Electronics:
Diverse Sources: Further exploration includes recordings from Hairdryers, LED Desk Maps, Microwaves, and various other household devices, providing a rich sound palette of unique EM textures.

Focus: Capturing the dynamic bridge rattle from motorists and the powerful whoosh of high-speed trains.
2. Filey, North Yorkshire:
Focus: A vibrant coastal town ambience with the sound of Sea waves, playful dogs, and various human activities.
3. Knaresborough, North Yorkshire:
Focus: The lively atmosphere of a town, the constant sound of the weir, distant nature, bustling visitors, and a local street musician.
4. Millennium Bridge, York:
Focus: An active urban river crossing featuring detailed foot traffic, passing cyclists, and subtle distant city noise.
